As the Assistant Director of Study Abroad, Emily Charlton works closely with both students, program leaders and exchange partners to make sure that students have the most transformative study abroad experience possible. Emily earned her undergraduate degree in International Studies and Global Business at the University of Evansville, followed by her Master’s degree in History from Butler University. During both high school and university Emily was fortunate to be able to study abroad multiple times and is confident that those experiences changed the trajectory of her personal and professional life. Emily has dedicated her career to higher education with extensive experience in study abroad, immigration, and athletic compliance. She joined the OIA in 2011.
When not day dreaming about swapping places with her study abroad students, Emily spends most of her spare time driving her two teenagers to and from their activities. In her remaining time she enjoys training her two rescue dogs, working in the garden, trying new recipes and planning the next family trip!
