What is IPMP?
This is a program that helps new international undergraduate students coming to IUPUI. Each new student (upon request) is matched with a Mentor who will help them with many different things. As a member of the Mentoring Program you will meet other students from the United States and from all over the world!
What is a mentor?
A mentor is an IUPUI student that has volunteered to help you during your first year at IUPUI. Mentors are students that are selected by our office because they are strong academically, and enjoy helping others. Your mentor will help you with the following:
Who are the mentors?
IPMP mentors are IUPUI students just like you, but they have been here for at least one year. Our mentors come from all over the world. Some are American, and many are international students themselves. Mentors join this program because they understand the challenges of living in a new place, and they want to help.
How can I get a mentor?
Please fill out our Mentor Request Form at http://istart.iu.edu. From the left menu, choose "Admission and Orientation." There you will find the International Peer Mentoring Program request form. After you submit the form the Office of International Affairs will match you with a mentor as soon as possible. We try to make matches according to gender, age, major and interests, so please fill out every section of the form. You will receive an email from International Affairs introducing your mentor. Shortly after that, you will receive an email directly from your mentor!
If you have questions about the program, please contact the International Student Programming Assistant at oiaprgms@iupui.edu.
