Off-Campus Living

Indianapolis offers many options at all price ranges for off-campus living in rented apartments throughout the city. You can live affordably by sharing the rent for a two- or three-bedroom apartment with other students.

Getting Help with Off-Campus Housing
The arrival assistance services offered by the Office of International Affairs include guidance in locating appropriate off-campus housing. Also, students frequently post “looking for roommate” advertisements on the Bulletin Board outside the Office of International Affairs.

Caution: Please be aware that when your name is on the apartment lease, you can be held fully responsible for the rent if your roommate does not pay his/her full share.

Renters Insurance:
Keep in mind that your personal belongings are not insured in case of fire or theft. Many insurance companies offer renters insurance at a reasonable cost.

Families with School-Aged Children
Indianapolis has 11 public school districts, all of which provide free education for children in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade, regardless of citizenship status. We suggest that you verify the school district with the apartment manager and research that school district’s educational programs before you make a final decision about where to live.

IUPUI is Indiana's premier urban research university. The campus enrolls more than 30,000 students in 21 schools and academic units.
